LED strip project

LED strip problems often start with the power supply, not the strip itself.

A long LED strip can become dim at the far end, overheat the driver, or show uneven color if voltage drop and driver reserve are ignored. Use this page before choosing strips, controllers, profiles, and power supplies.

Quick formulas

Total watts = watts per meter x length

Driver size = total watts x 1.2 to 1.3

Long runs often need two-end feed or extra power injection

中文重点

灯带项目要先算长度、每米功率、电压、压降和电源余量。不要把电源封死在无法检修的位置。长距离灯带要考虑两端供电、分段供电或更高电压方案。

Checklist

  1. 1Confirm voltage: 12V, 24V, or constant-current system.
  2. 2Calculate total wattage: strip watts per meter x length.
  3. 3Reserve 20-30% driver capacity for heat and long operating hours.
  4. 4Check voltage drop before choosing single-end or double-end power feed.
  5. 5Use aluminum profiles when heat, appearance, or installation durability matters.
  6. 6Keep driver and controller accessible for future replacement.
